At recent PC Fair, I came across Maxis sales personnel who has checked and confirmed that Taman Bukit Cheras has Maxis Wireless Broadband coverage so I have subscribed the package believing what he told me is true.
My Maxis Wireless Broadband was only activated on 5th December 2011 when the sales personnel who promised me immediate activation on 4th December 2011.
When I reached home, I couldn’t connect to Maxis Wireless Broadband and I called Maxis Call Centre and I was informed that the activation only can be the following day.
The following day, my Maxis Broadband seems to work but the speed of 3 Mbps wasn’t faster than my current Streamyx 512 Kbps. To my disappointment, Maxis Broadband is totally not stable in connection. After struggle for few days, I decided to give a call to Maxis Call Centre to enquire about the cancellation due to poor coverage in my house area. The Maxis Call Centre personnel confirmed that there is no cancellation fee for my case so I have dropped by Maxis Centre at Taman Segar Cheras on 16th December 2011. Again, I was told that there isn’t any cancellation fee and I made the cancellation of Maxis Broadband with returning the SIM card and modem.
Few days later, I received a call from Maxis personnel who told me that they are going to charge me cancellation fee for breach of contract. I explained to her my whole situation and she seem not very good in conversing in English and finally she told me that I don’t have to pay the cancellation fee as 2 Maxis personnel earlier confirmed no cancellation fee for my case.
Today, I received Maxis Broadband statement and the cancellation fee of RM100.00 is charging to my account.

I was quite amazed how Maxis handle a person who was given wrong information on Maxis Wireless Broadband coverage and paid the activation fee with no refund. The worst part is a cancellation fee is imposed due to poor coverage in my housing area. If Maxis Wireless Broadband coverage is good at my housing area, I wouldn’t have cancelled it.
