I signed up this true fitness at Sri Hartamas on March 2006. At first, the sales staff is telling me that they are going to open more branches near my place soon, they said!(im staying in Cheras), so i agreed to sign up as a member... and then they took my credit card to make the payment and activate the autodebit services everymonth in the amount of RM 166.95.
After going there for 3 months, i feel that its very unconvenient for me to travel so far to reach this fitness centre and i decides to cancel this membership. Therefore i spoke with this sales staff again and she said i cannot cancel this membership in within this 2 years which is also written in the contract i signed. So, i stopped going to true fitness after 3 months time.
Since they didnt let me to cancel the membership, i cancelled my credit card so that they cannot charge me from the autodebit thing. Until Nov 2006, the bank sent me a bill for RM 166.95, and i called the bank and ask why, they said they cannot stop any autodebit go thrrough from any merchant and they said i need to cancel the autodebit services the true fitness or else the bank still sending me more bills. So, i forced to go to the tru fitness again and speak with the person in charge this time name Charles Lim. The outstanding balance in November 2006 is RM 1,300++ he checked for me. He said he can help me cancel the membership if i clear the outstanding amount, of course im not going to pay for the thing i did not use! He still insist me for paying the outstanding or they will take action to send me a legal letter soon.
Up until now i still havent settle the amount, any advice for me guys?

[ My Desire Outcome ] :
I want them to stop charging me anything and waived the outstanding amount since i did not enjoy or use any services from this true fitness centre.

    Jamie,

Almost the same case happen to me too. This time they moved the gym and they don't allow me to cancelled my membership even I have to stuck in jam for 1 hours to reach to new gym.

I joined the gym (True Fitness) in Pavillion KL for period of 12 months since 13-April-2010 (should end 13-May-2011). The gym closed in Nov-2010 to moved to a new location - Kenanga International Building KL. I went there on the first day they re-open (17-Jan-2011)in new location and found that it is no longer convenient for me to go there. I talked to the manager in charge Miss Fiona for termination of gym but she refused. She promised to call me back to settle thing out but never. Since that first day in the new gym, I have stopped going to it. However, they are charging me month after month even I have stop going there and verbally informed them on the first day they reopen. These charges continuos even after my membership is due. Then, I received a solicitor letter from them asking me to pay not only the remaining months of my outstanding memberships fees (as I stop going after they moved) but also month by month accumulated membership fee even after the end of my membership on 13-May-2011 and also their lawyer fees. They told me that I am not able to cancel my membership until all my outstanding was settle, otherwise the outstanding will accumulated month after month. This is unfair to consumer as they told me they will not relocate the gym when I joined. It is only within a few months and they moved, I think this information need to be disclosed to us for consideration. Also, it is not fair to add up months of membership fee and lawyer fee after the membership is ended to previous outstanding. In this case, consumer is completely not protected from this negative clause in their agreement as no matter who is moving (either member or the gym), the burden is always fall under the member. We as the consumer has no right to say no even if they move to further location and even it is no longer convenient for us. We sign up for 12 months to the gym at the moment we commit ourselves to the location the gym located. When the gym is move, they should give us the right to terminate our membership but this is not the case.. The right is always weight on them not us as a consumer!
