Cheating Banks : Credit Cards from MBf with Line of Credit with Ambank!!

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.
I have had a MBf Lady Credit Card (1st card) since year 2000 (I think but I know for donkey years) and had decided to cancel it in August 2007 (cut it into half and returned it to them). They have in the same month I cancelled the Lady Credit Card, sent me another MBf credit card (2nd card) which I have done the same without activating it i.e. cut into half and returned it to MBf. Both letters of cancellation with the cut cards were duly acknowleged by MBf.

This year in May/June 2010, I have received a statement from MBf billing me for annual fee for the second card. I informed them that I have cancelled the card in year 2007 and they have the cheek to tell me that since the second card cancellation is not in their records, I have to still pay them the annual fee! They only backed down and zerorised my account when I told them I have a copy of the acknowledged letter of cancellation and will not hesitate to complain to Bank Negara.

Now, I just found out that I have a negative record in CCRIS because of there were debt outsanding and written off for the above cards. When I called MBf this morning, I was told that MBf only recorded the cancellation of the 1st card in October 2007 and they have continued to charge me annual fee despite the cancellation.

They further asked me to resolved matter with AmBank because the line of credit of the credit cards are with AmBank and only them can clear the CCRIS record. When I called AmBank, they told me they acted on the instruction of MBf and they can't do anything!!!!

Both banks are totally shameless and obviously taking consumers like me for a ride!!! I am now in a predicament because it will be difficult for me to get any bank loans due to the misreporting of these banks in CCRIS about my credit report.

Can someone please advise me how to resolve this like ASAP because I have a loan application pending and likely to be rejected if the CCRIS record is not cleared??
Angry and annoyed!

    Hi Linahl,
I had a simillar problem with MBf cards too! On Dec 2008, I've requested in writing to cancel my credit card and restructure my payments to rm100 per month. My credit limit is rm3000 and they claimed that i owed them more than rm3000. Thus i top up the overlimit amount and ensure that my amount owed is rm3000. After making 21 months of rm100 monthly payments, i called up to check my outstanding amount and shockingly it is still at rm2434.34! So, i checked with the customer service but was informed that my account was transferred to collection dept.
After checking with collection dept, they gaved lame excuses that my amount paid goes to interest charges and only a small portion was channeled to paying the principal amount owed. I've never paid them late and yet they charged me like loan shark!

So, I requested them for a full settlement amount, and the officer in charge Mr Darween has promised me to waived off all previous interest charges and give me a good settlement amount. 3 days later, another officer named Malar called up, she is requesting rm2470.00 as a full settlement amount. WTF?????? My outstanding balance is just rm2434.34 and she is saying that rm2470.00 is a "discounted amount" for full settlement.

I've requested for an account statement from them but they refused to give me a statement claiming that this is a standard procedure for accounts under restructuring scheme. F*** MBF! I hope the world finds out that they are some licensed f***in' loan shark!

I'm now forwarding this matter to Bank Negara Malaysia complaint bureau for further actions.

Lesson from this is NEVER EVER APPLY FOR AN MBF CARD!

Hi all. I also have the same issues with AmBank and MBF. It was a fraud case and they insist that I foot up the bill. There was a similar case with EON bank. They (EON Bank) did a proper investigation and they write it off as fraud.

If you feel that you have been intimidated, bullied or treated unfairly by MBF or AMBank, attached at below is the To and CC list where you are able to highlight your disaffection. Also only highlight the facts. Any type of proof (recordings, sms – send by the financial institute, hardcopy, softcopy or emails) will be useful as MBF loves to use allegations and defame against the card holders.
Again it would not be an allegation if people from different walks of life feels that they are treated unfairly.
